Last week, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer briefly made headlines with the release of an internal memo. The memo outlined the need for, and criticality of, Microsoft moving to become a more Cloud-oriented business.

Contrary to some reports, Ballmer did not suggest or insist that MSFT become a Cloud / SaaS-based business. Neither did he announce anything new. He merely emphasized the importance of a Cloud-oriented strategy across all of MSFT. Most famously, he stressed how MSFT sees itself as completely committed to a Cloud-based future for itself, partners and customers:
