Core enterprise business goals vary somewhat in priority from year to year. For 2012, enterprise business goals tend to emphasize growth in revenue and market share, including selling more to existing customers. Improvements in margins and budgets are less important now than in recent years. The relative ranking of enterprise business priorities for 2012 suggests that business recovery is well underway. This Strategic Perspective uses data from our 2012 global SaaS/Cloud business applications survey to more closely identify these enterprise business priorities. We examine how and why these have changed over the preceding years, and look at how these translate to IT investment this year and beyond, revisiting our Effectiveness Gap™ model as a means to help prioritize.
