U.S. Cloud service providers and their customers may assume that the results of the November elections mean they won’t have to worry about aggressive Net Neutrality rulemaking by the FCC. But even if the FCC issues no major changes later this month, the current regulatory environment still has significant impact on a broad spectrum of Internet and business class WAN and access services, and on the Cloud. This Strategic Perspective examines the interworking of key competitive and regulatory factors that have and will continue to impact the near-term evolution of the U.S. Internet, and makes eight recommendations for Cloud service providers (CSPs) and their customers about how to make optimal use of the Internet and other relevant WAN services.
